MAKING A RECORDING
When you select Video, Tuner, Phono,

recordings may be made on tape deck 1
or 2, or both simultaneously. When

2 simultaneously, you may listen directly
to the source, or you may monitor tape
deck 2. DO NOT monitor tape deck 1
during this procedure. Pressing Tape 1

NOTE 2: To use a 3-head tape deck that
allows monitoring of the actual recording
while it is in process, you must connect it
to TAPE 2 jacks. Pressing Tape 1 will
switch off the source.
NOTE 3: The record output signal is
taken directly from the program source
without being influenced by the Volume,
Bass, Treble or Balance controls.
PRE OUT/MAIN IN
Your Harman/Kardon integrated amplifier
is equipped with separate outputs from
the preamplifier section marked Pre Out
on the rear panel and separate inputs to
the  power amplifier section marked
Main In on the rear panel. In normal use,
the Left Pre Out socket must be
connected directly to the Left Main In
socket and the Right Pre Out socket
must be connected directly to the Right
Main In socket via the short
interconnects included with the unit.
For more advanced use, the Pre
Out/Main In sockets may be used to
insert equalizers or other processors into
the signal path. They can also be used to
feed an external power amplifier with the
signal from the preamplifier section or to
feed the power amplifier section with the
signal from an external source.
Consult your Harman/Kardon dealer for
additional information.
