Subject: Replacing the BP04 loader
In the event you need to replace the loader mechanism in the BDP 1 Blu-Ray Disc Player, follow the
procedure below:

The original BP04 loader mechanism is No Longer Available and you will need to upgrade to the BP06 loader.
Serial number TL0002-04736 and above, or units having a “BDP06” label on the loader, you will only need to order
BP06 loader: hk part# 05-BLURAY-BP06.
Serial number TL0002-04736 and below, or units having a “BDP04” label on the loader, you will need to order the
following parts, and follow the instructions below:

BP06 loader: hk part# 05-BLURAY-BP06
•
SATA power cable, BP06 compatible: hk part#46-40407H-04X
•
a USB thumb/flash drive
•
V1.05 Software from www.harmanservice.com website
Procedure:
1) Remove the top cover.
2) Remove defective BP04 loader mechanism and the SATA power cable at the rear of the loader which connects
the loader to the SMPS PCB, and unplug the other remaining cable.

3) Install BP06 loader hk part# 05-BLURAY-BP06
4) Connect BP06 mechanism to the power supply using the BP06 compatible power cable

to your computer.
7) Unzip folder and copy the contents (entire folder labeled “images” and a single file labeled
“product_software_update”) into the root directory of a blank USB thumb/flash drive. Remove from computer.

8) Connect the BDP1 to a TV/monitor using any video cable connection and turn the BDP 1 and the TV/monitor ON.
White indicator must be ON (not standby, orange).
9) Insert the thumb/flash drive into the BDP1’s front USB port.
10) Within a minute, the BDP 1 should detect the USB device, which will bring up the “Media Launcher” menu on the

13) The BDP 1 will say “update in progress”. Please be patient and allow the BDP 1 to complete this process.
You will see “Update Result: Successful” when done.
14) Remove the USB Device and then select “Done” in the BDP 1 menu (OK).
15) The BDP 1 should now automatically restart. If it does not restart on its own, please wait for 1 full minute before
power cycling it manually. Power cycle = press power button on left to Standby, press main On/Off power button on
rear of unit to OFF. Press power button ON again, press front power button ON again.
16) Verify that the proper Software version is installed on the unit: Press “Setup” on the remote control, select
System (OK) and then scroll down to Software Version (OK). It should display these last two lines if you have been
successful. Hit OK and Setup again to exit the menu.
14) Remove the USB Device and then select “Done” in the BDP 1 menu (OK).
15) The BDP 1 should now automatically restart. If it does not restart on its own, please wait for 1 full minute before
power cycling it manually. Power cycle = press power button on left to Standby, press main On/Off power button on
rear of unit to OFF. Press power button ON again, press front power button ON again.
