What You Need
Laptop with network capability via TCP/IP
OR
USB CD for Windows 98 / Windows 2000 only
n x UP-5900 dependant on the number of till required for the system.
Venta Install disc
1.1 Configuring the Laptop PC for TCP/IP for Windows 98
1.  Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, and double click on “Network”
2.  Hopefully you should already have a network card installed.
3.  If not add the network card now.
4.  Click “Add”, Protocol
5.  Select “Microsoft” in the left-hand panel.
6.  Select “TCP/IP” at the bottom of the right-hand panel.
7.  Click “Ok”
8.  Click on the tab across the top of the Network box called “Identification”.
9.  Change the Computer Name to be “Node16”
10.  Leave the Workgroup to be “Workgroup”.
11.  Now change the TCP/IP address, which is bound to the Network card to read.
12.  IP Address 
192.168.199.200 
(For the Back Office / Laptop)
13.  Subnet Mask 
255.255.255.0
14.  Click OK
15.  Click the “File and Print Sharing” box
16.  Check the 2 check boxes and select OK
17.  Click Ok
18.  You may have to point the laptop at C:windows/options/cabs
19.  After the laptop reboots go into Start, Programs Windows Explorer.
20.  Right click on the C:  and go into properties (Local Hard Drive)
21.  Select sharing
22.  Allow full sharing as C and with NO password set.
23.  Right click on the E:  and go into properties Local CD-ROM)
24.  Select sharing
25.  Allow full sharing as E and with NO password set.
26.  Shut down the Laptop and wait until the tills have been similarly set up.
